The 2014 Harley-Davidson Road King Base (FLHR) was a
touring motorcycle that received significant updates as part of Harley's "Project Rushmore". These upgrades included a new high-output Twin Cam 103 engine, improved ergonomics, and redesigned features that enhanced the touring experience while maintaining the Road King's classic style.

Project Rushmore improvements
As part of the Project Rushmore initiative, the 2014 Road King Base received a ground-up redesign for better comfort, performance, and braking.
Improved handling: Upgraded 49mm front forks were added, providing sharper and more stable handling.
Linked brakes: An optional Reflex™ Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) with electronically linked brakes was available, optimizing braking power to each wheel.
Ergonomics: Redesigned hand controls with a more intuitive and ergonomic feel were included, along with a new trigger switch for navigating gauges. The standard Road King also featured new heritage-style handlebars for a more comfortable riding position.
Refreshed styling: Updated features included redesigned, one-touch hard saddlebags that are easier to open and close, along with a classic Hiawatha headlamp.
Cruise control: Standard electronic cruise control was included for highway riding comfort.
