The 2006 model features several enhancements over the 2005 version, which resulted in a power increase.
Engine: A liquid-cooled, DOHC, 998cc inline-four engine.
Performance output:
Maximum horsepower: 172 hp at 11,250 rpm.
Maximum torque: 85 lb-ft at 10,000 rpm.
Transmission: Six-speed, with new gears and clutch needle bearings for improved engagement.
Top speed: A stock 2006 Fireblade can reach approximately 181 mph, according to Topspeed.com.
Chassis and suspension
Honda gave the 2006 CBR1000RR a number of chassis improvements, which contributed to its race-ready feel.
Frame: The lightweight twin-spar aluminum frame uses technology from the RC211V MotoGP racing machine.
Suspension:
Front: Revised settings for the inverted front suspension.
Rear: Revised rear suspension with new linkage for improved handling.
Brakes: The front disc brakes increased in diameter from 310mm to 320mm. The front rotors also became thinner and lighter, while the rear caliper was made smaller and lighter to reduce unsprung weight.
Electronic Steering Damper (HESD): The bike is equipped with a Honda Electronic Steering Damper, which provides stability by stiffening at higher speeds.
Weight: The claimed dry weight is 176kg (388 lbs).
